MEDIA RELEASE
Cherry Growers Australia (CGA) has taken a historic step forward, officially incorporating as Cherry Growers Australia Limited, a company limited by guarantee, as confirmed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) on 16 May 2025.
This structural transformation represents the culmination of years, if not decades, of collective effort to establish a more strategic, professional and resourced organisation for the Australian cherry industry.
The newly formed CGA Ltd is designed to deliver:
- A stronger and more unified voice for growers
- Enhanced consultation and engagement across the industry
- Data-driven strategic decision-making
- A broadened membership framework including growers, state associations, suppliers and stakeholders
- Improved operational efficiency, compliance and transparency
- A full-time CEO and a skills-based board elected by members
“This is a significant milestone for the Australian cherry industry,” said CGA Chair Alison Jones. “It lays the foundation for a modern, proactive organisation that can better represent growers’ interests and support long-term industry sustainability.”
The incorporation follows extensive consultation and planning, with a clear focus on creating an industry body capable of year-round leadership, coordination and advocacy.
The initial directors of CGA Ltd comprise former members of the CGA Board of Management. The office bearers are:
- Chair: Alison Jones
- Deputy Chair: Brent McClintock
- Honorary Treasurer: Samantha Flanery
The organisation is now led by newly appointed CEO Dr Penny Measham, supported by Kate McGilvray, Interim COO, Chris Lethbridge, Trade Development Coordinator, and Gita Ricca Communications Officer.
CGA Ltd offers four membership categories:
- Production Members
- Levy Members
- State Association Members
- Affiliate Members
Interested parties are encouraged to join and contribute to the future direction of the industry. Company and Individual membership forms, along with the CGA Ltd Constitution, are available via the links below.
