2022-37: Horticulture – Applications for the export of cherries to protocol markets
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise the cherry industry that applications are now open for the accreditation of farms and packhouses, and registration of treatment facilities to export cherries to protocol markets for the 2022-23 season.
CGA Cherry Conference returns
After an eight-year hiatus Cherry Growers Australia (CGA) will host its Cherry Conference and export workshop on 15-17 June.

New sensor technologies: Measuring sugar levels in cherries using an infrared meter
Agriculture Victoria recently tested a new portable handheld infrared meter (HIKARi 16) that non-destructively measures sugar levels in fresh cherries. Comparisons were made with a refractometer that requires destruction of the fruit to obtain a juice sample. Laboratory results
showed that the infrared HIKARi 16 was reasonably accurate and has the potential to replace a refractometer. Read more
Cherry "Shine" campaign
Austrade, with assistance from CGA have created a video for the "Shine" campaign to promote cherries in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.

“Chemical Use for Export Toolkit”: Helping Cherry, Summerfruit, and Table Grape Growers Realise Export Aspirations
The Victorian Government is supporting cherry, summerfruit and table grape growers across the state to realise their export market aspirations by building capacity and managing supply chain risks.
Minister for Agriculture Mary-Anne Thomas announced this project as part of the first tranche of the Food to Market program to support projects that will add value to food grown and processed in Victoria.
